The Hull/Humberside branch has been running for the last 30 years. We meet at the White Lion pub in Hull once a month, usually the second Tuesday and we have a good membership of very keen fans.

Cost is 50p for members and £1 for non members.

A very good magazine is produced quarterly. We have video/DVD evenings and occasional discos. A raffle is held at each meeting. We occasionally have fun nights with quizes, karaoke etc.

At our meetings we always have a stall of Elvis memoribilllia for fans to purchase. Along with this we do often have a box of items, which include videos (Elvis and other artists, films, etc) which have been donated to the branch and offered to anyone who wants them.

Outings are arranged, if there are enough people interested, to other branch meetings. We always arrange the Elvis Event at Mablethorpe and generally book 2-3 caravans. We have had several trips to Memphis over the years. Trips to other events run by the Fan Club branches are arranged if requested.

We meet monthly in a member’s home for a social evening to enjoy Elvis music, videos etc.
We also fundraise for Douglas House, a respite hospice for young people and throughout the year we raise money by having stalls at most of the big carnivals and events in the area. So far we have raised a magnificent £55,000.
As you can imagine we feel proud of this and feel it is a fitting tribute to Elvis to donate this money in his memory.
Because we are so small we have no membership fee – I prefer people to join the national fan club (PO Box 4, Leicester, LE1 3ZL). We always welcome new members at our meetings on the first Sunday of each month. Just phone or email me for details.

NEWS
Helen and Maria Barrie represented our Branch in the official Guard of Honour, which lines the driveway of Graceland from the gates to the Meditation Gardens for the candlelight vigil. It was still 90 degrees at 2am and although it is done in 20 minute shifts I was amazed when they told me they had stayed until 5.45am. People were still going up until around 7am. I’m told over 70,000 took part. More still held vigil on the roadway in front of Graceland. A policeman I spoke to said it was the biggest crowd he’d ever seen and far more than they had anticipated.
We all say a big thank you to Helen and Maria for representing and being there for us all.
In Memphis Geraldine Melia took part in the 5K run and, despite the heat and lack of preparation, she finished in 40 minutes having run with the Navy Seals! She has the medal and T-shirt and is really proud to have completed it.

We've had a letter from Phil Evans at the University College for the Creative Arts in Canterbury. As a long standing Elvis fan he is putting on an exhibition of contemporary Fine Art works that have been influenced by the life and work of Elvis. This is an open submission - painting, sculpture, video, performance print, installation, digital media and photography. It will be held at the Herbert Reed Gallery at the University on 14th March 2008. If anyone is interested you can get full details and an application form from pevans@ucreative.ac.uk

He also has a cat called Elvis and would like to ask anyone who has a pet called Elvis if they would like to send him a photo for inclusion in the exhibition - include your name and fan club. The address of the College is:
